So lately I have been using my free time to be creative and make some fun things. I wanted to make something to hold my baby girls bows and I got the idea from a friend. It took me a little while to find a frame that I liked but eventually the DI pulled through for me.I have this serious obsession with the DI and thrift stores. It's a gold pot for supplies and ideas for projects!
Supplies Needed:
- Frame (make sure it has the cardboard/hard backing to glue the fabric to)
- Ribbon
- Enough fabric to fill the frame
- scissors
- hot glue gun
- Fleece an inch bigger on each side of the frame (optional)
This project cost me about $3 plus the materials I already had. As I said the frame came from the DI for $1, the fabric was leftover from other projects, and the ribbon was about $2.
You could put the fabric together in a pattern like I did or just do a solid background. This is how I did it! First I cut the fabric into 2 1/2" strips and sewed them together with a 3/8" seam allowance. I ironed open the seam allowances. I then used a piece of fleece and wrapped and using a hot glue gun glued it around the cardboard backing to the frame. Then I wrapped the fabric around the fleece and glued this in place as well. The ribbon I placed 2 1/2" apart at a 90 degree angle from the stripes I created with the fabric. I hot wrapped these around the back and glued them down. That's IT! It really is that simple!
I added the flower for fun from some fabric I had lying around. The inside of the flowers were made my using little rocks covered in fabric.
Here it is with the bows I already have on it. I got most of these bows from my girl friends at my baby shower. I almost like it better without any bows on it! I'm thinking maybe I will use it as a picture holder instead of a bow holder. I can't decide!
Oh my gosh! So I just changed my blog background and then came to yours and realized I put the exact same one as yours without even knowing it!!! Haha I swear I wasn't trying to copy but I guess it shows that we are friends. We like the same stuff!
