Decorative Candy Holders

I got the idea for this brilliant project from The Wood Connection, this cute little crafty wood shop in American Fork. Here are all the supplies.

3 Wooden Plaques, 2 small and one medium - Hobby Lobby
3 wooden candle sticks - Wood Connection
3 glass jars with lids - Hobby Lobby
3 knobs - Wood connection
I added in the soccer balls for extra texture on the top of the lids - Hobby Lobby
Gorilla Glue - any craft store
All you really need is paint of some kind.
The rest are just extra's to make things look extra nice (wood filler, puddy knife and sandpaper)
Yup folks that's it and it cost me about $17 for everything. If you do this make sure you use coupons!

Step 1: Glue candle sticks on plaques and knobs on lids using gorilla glue. Gorilla glue expands quite a bit so use it sparingly or you will have a mess to clean up when it dries. Let sit and dry for at least an hour.

Step 2 (optional): I don't know if this actually helped in the end or not but I already had the wood filler so I decided it couldn't hurt. I filled the holes in the candle sticks with wood filler to increase the surface area that would be glued to the glass jars.

Step 3: Spray paint or use a paint brush to acheive desired color. Let dry.
Step 4: Glue the glass jars onto the painted candle sticks. Let dry. I used a level to make sure that mine were glued on evenly.

Step 5: Fill, decorate, and enjoy! I have yet to put anything in mine but as soon as I do I will post a few pictures. But I plan on filling them with candy, ornaments, rocks, maybe candles or other fun colorful things for the different holidays and seasons.

I am totally please with how they turned out! I can't take all the credit though because Mr. Man helped me out for quite a few things. He even suggested we go to The Wood Connection and get the candle sticks because he knew how excited I was about doing this project! Mr. Man is so wonderful!

30 weeks and I already feel like an elephant

The days have started where I walk past a mirror and think wow look at the pregnant lady....then I back up and I think again NO WAY that pregnant lady is me and yes that REALLY is my belly.
See HUGE belly!
I already feel huge it's hard to imagine what is going to happen in these next 10 weeks. Baby girl doesn't have a name yet but we love her just the same. I can't wait for her to be out of my belly and in my arms. I feel so blessed to be able to carry and bring this little girl into our family.

Last week Brooke had their little girl Claire who is a beautiful baby. Don't worry I'm not just saying that to be nice I really do think she is a beautiful and cute baby! Me and John visited Ty and Brooke and Claire in the hospital and as I was holding little Claire on top of my belly I was so jealous. In a good way of course! Babies are just so precious and I can't wait to have my very own baby girl in my arms. I must be seriously emotional these days cause I think very much about it and my eyes water because I am so excited and happy and I love her already so much.

Here's a picture of baby Claire! Isn't she adorable!

Memorial Day Celebration

So before John up and went to help his sister in Missouri we started planning a couples weekend up in Midway over Memorial weekend. But then he wasn't going to be there and I wasn't so sure I wanted to host a couples party without my other half. But after I talked with one of my best friends Amberlyn she helped me decide to do it. So what the heck if I was the 15th wheel... So a bunch of us headed up there on Sunday afternoon/evening. And just that morning John called me and told me the awesome news. He was going to be home that night!!! So thank goodness he didn't miss out on all the fun with our friends and I got to have my better half with me!

Let's start from the beginning. Katie and Dave were in charge of breakfast and she made homemade whole wheat waffles with strawberries and whip cream and syrup! Delicious
